Minimal, functional, effortless. The quintessential French market bag caught my eye as soon as I landed in Southern France a few weeks ago, and hasn’t left my mind since (mainly because I didn’t bring one home with me and the regrets are SO real!)
…and also because they were absolutely everywhere. But not in a “trendy” way that we all get sick of sooner or later. They’re used for their intended purpose (market hauls of fresh produce, blooms, etc), but also as an understatedly-chic summer tote. Whether classic shoulder bag style or something of the more structured variety, these lovely woven carry-alls are an absolute must for the sunny season.
I’ve included the original inspiration below, from the lovely streets of Nice and Aix-en-Provence…(and check out Instagram for lots of other travel photos!)
